Cathy St. George
Actress and model Cathy St. George will reprise her role as a media guest at The Rock n Roll Autograph Show. She has appeared in Music Videos with LaRoux “Carries Gone” as well as The Beach Boys “Kokomo” and many others. Cathy most recently caught our eye as the inspiration for fantasy and sci-fi artist Ken Kelly’s dazzling painted cover for Dynamite Entertainment’s Red Sonja #33. Ken Kelly was also the artist for numerous Kiss album covers. I recently asked Kelly about the cover and learned that he and Cathy St. George had sat next to each other at a convention last year and he took one look at her and thought she would be great to paint.
Cathy had a stunning photo of herself taken at the beach in the water, and Kelly thought that with a costume and hair color change it could be the perfect basis for a Red Sonja cover. Clearly he was right, as the end result is fantastic. Kelly showed the finished painting to Dynamite Comics publisher Nick Barrucci, who apparently loved it and bought it for the cover of Red Sonja #33.
Ken Kelly is certainly not alone among artists inspired by Cathy St. George, as she has also served as the basis for the Red Skye Comics series Saint 7 International Spy by Torrence King and been painted for both comics and pinups by artists including Jay Fife, Dave Nestler, Tom Nguyen, Jon Hull, Patrick Nagel, Dennis Mukai, Patrick McCarthey, Jim Ceravola, and Michael Reagan.
The Playboy Playmate and Cover girl’s film credits include Star 80, The Man Who Loved Women, Brewster’s Millions, Beverly Hills Brats, and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Her television work includes CHiPs, The Real Housewives of Orange County, The Tonight Show, and Santa Barbara. St. George has just completed two new horror films, No Strings and Grave Danger, and a new comedy called Foursome. We’re pleased to have her this year!
